Treasures inside your teeth.
Wisdome teeth are permanent teeth that erupt around age 18. They are the last tissues completed after our birth. We have 4 wisdome teeth (both sides of upper and lower jaw), but especially in Japan, the size of jaw bone is becomming too small to provide enough space for them.
Epidemiological study held in Japan revealed that many people remove and discard their wesdom teeth aroung age of 20 to 30. But, these wisdom teeth are really useless?
In Japan, each year as many as 10 million permanent teeth are discarded as medical waste. We thought that "Mottainai". Then, we searched for the way of use of these wastes, and found that the teeth of young people contains Shizui cells (treasures) with high potentials as a resource for regenerative medicine.
