The Saviour of regenerative medicine?

Hosts' (who accept the transplantation) immune systems reject the transplanted cells, only if they find HLAs different from themselves (non-self). HLA haplotype homo donors has HLAs half in kind; and then, if the host has the same set of HLAs (usually shares the same haplotype with donor), the transplanted cells can escape from immune system.

The most frequent HLA haplotype is shared by 17% of Japanese population. The second frequent one is 10% and third one 7%. By simulation, to cover approximately half of the Japanese population, we will need to generate 10 to 14 HLA haplotype homo iPS cell llines from the most frequent haplotype to 10th one.

Generation of safe iPS cell lines and production in large scale will significantly reduce the cost of regeneration therapy and reliability.
